Dan Leonardi

Attorney at Law

Clerkship Experience
Law Clerk to Judge Joseph F. Anderson, Jr., United States District Court for the District of South Carolina (2002-2004)

Dan Leonardi practices out of the Columbia office and has broad experience in both civil litigation and criminal defense. On the civil side, Dan has years of experience handling cases in state and federal courts, including complex commercial matters on both sides of the courtroom, class actions, pricing and antitrust litigation, and professional malpractice defense.

A licensed patent practitioner and Georgia Tech engineering graduate, Dan has also handled a variety of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, trademark registration, and related litigation.

His criminal experience is equally deep. Dan has convinced the government to dismiss federal criminal indictments outright, helped grand jury targets avoid indictment, won case-ending motions to suppress, had sentences reduced by decades to time-served, and convinced courts to grant compassionate-release and other post-conviction motions.

All cases are different, but experience matters. Dan has defended hundreds of defendants in federal court, including business owners, engineers, pharmacists, law enforcement officers, corrections officers, and healthcare providers. Dan’s practice is not a volume practice—he handles all matters directly, working closely and collaboratively with his clients.

Dan is a magna cum laude graduate of Notre Dame Law School and is licensed in South Carolina and Illinois.
